Our Vision

Located on the Congregation Gates of Prayer campus in Metairie, Louisiana, the Fried Center welcomes learners of all ages to come together to explore Southern Jewish heritage through hands-on learning, immersive experiences, and meaningful service

Our vision is to serve as the premier gateway to Jewish life and learning in the Crescent City, where visitors from around the country can discover a narrative that is both uniquely Southern and deeply Jewish.

Here, our participants deepen their connection to Jewish life, build lasting community ties, and play an active role in shaping the vibrant Jewish future.

Students Between Classes

Visit us for a weekend or a one-day retreat, where you will learn all about the history of Southern and New Orleanian Jews through interactive excursions and educational programming.

Guided by Jewish values, we lead participants in hands-on service projects tackling the social, environmental, and other issues that impact our local and regional community. See examples under our retreat tab!

When disaster strikes, the Fried Center will be there. We work with local, state, and regional relief organizations to coordinate aid, assistance, and recovery for affected communities.
